The Leafs had their final practice in Trenton Wednesday morning before a golf outing ended their three-day trip.

The lines remained the same Wednesday with the big news of the day being that defenceman Cody Franson will be making his Leafs debut against the Calgary Flames on Saturday.

Franson is looking forward to getting back in action after sitting out the first two games of the season.

"It will be huge," Franson said. "I've been waiting for it for a while. I prepared for it all summer and to hopefully get that chance will be fun."

In his address with the media, head coach Ron Wilson said that Matthew Lombardi will be the third line centre for the next little while and that the team will continue to watch him closely during games.

He also spoke about Franson getting into the lineup and with the number of defencemen on the roster trying to keep them all happy.

While in Trenton, the Leafs took part in numerous activities including a flight on a C-17 military transport, a fire and rescue demonstration and they also had a chance to check out some of the artillery. Check out all the photos with a few of the players contributing the pictures on their Twitter accounts.

The Maple Leafs hit the ice in Trenton for the second straight day on Tuesday.

After missing Monday's session, Clarke MacArthur returned to his regular spot on a line with Mikhail Grabovski and Nikolai Kulemin. MacArthur should be in the lineup on Saturday when the Leafs host the Calgary Flames.

Another player who could make his season and Leafs debut is defenceman Cody Franson. He has been a healthy scratch for the first two games of the 2011-12 season.

Forward Nazem Kadri continues to work his way back from a knee strain. He would most likely have to spend some time with the Toronto Marlies to get his conditioning back to where it was prior to his injury.

The Blue and White were in action on Saturday as the first day of on-ice sessions took place at MasterCard Centre. A few possible opening-night line combinations were already on display.

Ron Wilson and his coaching staff had what one could call the three top lines as follows:

Phil Kessel-Tim Connolly-Joffrey Lupul

Nikolai Kulemin-Mikhail Grabovski-Clarke MacArthur

Nazem Kadri-Tyler Bozak-Colby Armstrong

While Connolly had scrimmaged with a few of his teammates before camp started, Saturday’s scrimmages had more of a game feel to them. It was a valuable first experience working with Kessel and Lupul.

“Chances wise we had a lot but on the bench we were talking about things we could change and help each other out to know where we will be on the ice,” Connolly said.
