Luke commented on his relationship with his younger brother: “We play two different positions, he's a forward and more of a goal scorer; he leads the way for points. We're really close, I always keep in touch with him and like to know what's going on with him and Brandon.”

• In January, 2009 Schenn was awarded the H.L. (Krug) Crawford Memorial Medal for his athletic achievement in western Manitoba – the award, first presented in 1958 has been won by 16 former Brandon Wheat Kings including: Eric Fehr, Jordin Tootoo, Trevor Kidd, Ray Ferarro and Glen Hanlon.

• Schenn was named the WHL Rookie of the Year (28-43-71) in 2007-08, after teaming up with fellow rookie linemates Scott Glennie (No. 7 ranked) and Matt Calvert (selected by Columbus, 127th overall in 2008) as one of the highest scoring rookie lines in recent WHL history (193 combined points). He became the first 16-year-old rookie since 1971 to lead Brandon in scoring.

• He first began skating on the outdoor rink at the age of five and his first hockey team was the Saskatoon Redwings of the Saskatoon minor hockey association.

• He wears number 10 after his childhood hockey hero Pavel Bure and credits his parents for having the biggest influence on his career – “they have always supported me”.
