Maple Leafs re-assign Holden to St. John's

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that forward Josh Holden has been re-assigned to the St. John's Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League.

Holden, 24, appeared in five games for Toronto and collected one goal with two penalty minutes. He scored his first goal of the season in his Maple Leafs debut November 8 at Dallas. Holden has also played 13 games for St. John's this season and has 14 points (six goals, eight assists) with 14 penalty minutes.

The native of Calgary, Alberta has 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 59 career NHL games with Vancouver, Carolina and Toronto.

He was originally Vancouver's first choice, 12th overall in the 1996 Entry Draft.
