Wesley, Green Out Of Action
RALEIGH, N.C. (CP) - The Toronto Maple Leafs continue to battle the injury bug after recently acquired defenceman Glen Wesley was diagnosed with a fractured left ankle Tuesday.

"The only thing I know right now is that it's broken," Wesley told reporters Tuesday afternoon. Wesley, who suffered the injury Monday night against Boston when he blocked a shot, said he was to see a doctor in Raleigh prior to the Leafs' game against the Hurricanes on Tuesday and could end up in a cast.

It was not clear how long he would be out, but he told a local TV station that he might be able to play in two or three weeks.

The Leafs, who picked up Wesley at the trading deadline from the Hurricanes, have had bad luck with their deadline-day acquisitions. Doug Gilmour, whom they acquired from Montreal, lasted less than one game before suffering a knee injury and former Blackhawks defenceman Phil Housley has yet to play a game due to a broken foot.

Meanwhile, forward Travis Green is out with a rib injury suffered Monday.
