Maple Leafs Agree to Terms With David Turon
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Tuesday that the team has signed junior defenseman David Turon to a multi-year contract.

Turon, 19, played with the Western Hockey League's Portland Winterhawks in 2002-03 and he posted totals of three goals and six assists for nine points in 36 games. In December, he represented the Czech Republic at the World Junior Hockey Championships in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he played six games scoring one goal with 10 minutes in penalties.

Turon, who was drafted by the Maple Leafs in the fifth round, 112nd overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, spent the previous three seasons in the Czech junior and elite leagues, playing for his hometown of Havirov. He attended the Maple Leafs training camp in September, 2002, but saw no game action in the preseason.
