Maple Leafs Agree To Terms With Ian White
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Monday that the team has signed junior defenceman Ian White to an entry-level contract.

Ian White
White becomes the fifth and final Maple Leaf prospect from Canada's 2003 World Junior team to come to terms with Toronto, joining forwards Matt Stajan and Kyle Wellwood as well as defencemen Carlo Colaiacovo and Brendan Bell. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

White, 18, completed his third season as a member of the Western Hockey Leagues (WHL) Swift Current Broncos in 2002-03, finishing third among WHL defencemen with 68 points on 24 goals and 44 assists in 64 games.

As a member of Team Canada at the 2003 World Junior Hockey Championships, White recorded six points (two goals, four assists) in six games, helping Canada win the Silver medal. After the season, the Winnipeg native was named the Broncos top defenceman and received the club's Trophy Town Award as the team's most sportsmanlike player.

White was originally drafted by the Maple Leafs with their sixth choice, 191st overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft following the 2001-02 season, in which he was named the Broncos' Most Valuable Player.
