TORONTO (AP) -- Ed Belfour solidified his place as one of the best goalies in NHL history.
Belfour passed Glenn Hall for fifth place on the career victory list, stopping 24 shots in the Toronto Maple Leafs' 2-1 victory over Vancouver on Monday night.
Belfour has 408 victories, 15 shy of Tony Esposito for fourth place. Patrick Roy is first with 551.
"To be with Glenn Hall is a great honor," Belfour said. "I'd love to hear from him. I had a chance to talk to him quite a bit when I was in Chicago. He was always helpful."
Hall played 19 seasons for Chicago, Detroit and St. Louis. Belfour is in his 16th season.
"He's one of the best goalies in the game," Toronto captain Mats Sundin said. "It's great to have him back there. He certainly made it look easy tonight. That's just the kind of guy he is."
Sundin and Gary Roberts scored for the Maple Leafs, who went winless in the first five games of their West Coast road trip before winning in Vancouver on Saturday night.
Brendan Morrison had the lone goal for the Canucks, who haven't won on the road in five games since Nov. 5 at Nashville.
After Vancouver center Matt Cooke turned the puck over, Sundin fired a slap shot past goalie Johan Hedberg at 2:08 of the third.
"You can't stop every shot, but when a guy like him comes into the zone, and tees it up, it's a tough shot," Hedberg said.
Roberts opened the scoring 12 seconds into the game, skating from behind the net and backhanding a shot past Hedberg.
Morrison tied it late in the period off a deflection.
Both teams seemed agitated in the second game of the back-to-back set. Vancouver's Brad May bloodied Nathan Perrott in a fight in the first. Just 27 seconds later, Toronto's Tie Domi threw Bryan Allen into the net during a fight.
Notes: Toronto's Alexander Mogilny missed his second straight game because of a sore left hip. ... Toronto won 5-3 on Saturday. ... Raptors coach Kevin O'Neill attended the game.
