Mogilny Has Surgery
(November 26, 2003) -- John Ferguson, general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Wednesday that forward Alexander Mogilny underwent successful arthroscopic left hip surgery this afternoon.
The procedure was performed by Dr. Marc Philippon, MD at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Central at St. Margaret's Hospital in Pittsburgh. Mogilny is expected to be sidelined for approximately 10 to 12 weeks.
"Alex's desire to continue to play through the injury speaks highly of his commitment to the team and to our fans," said Ferguson. "After receiving the evaluation Wednesday we all felt that it was best to take care of this situation now."
Mogilny, 34, has five goals and seven assists in 15 games this season. The 15-year veteran last played on November 20 at Edmonton and he has missed seven games overall this season. In 934 career NHL games he has collected 458 goals and 531 assists for 989 points.
