Bell, Hudson Join Team Canada

(December 17, 2003) -- Hockey Canada announced Wednesday Team Canada's roster for the Spengler Cup which will take place December 26-31, 2003 in Davos, Switzerland. Looking to help Team Canada defend their championship at this year's event are two members of the Toronto Maple Leafs' organization on loan, defenceman Brendan Bell and goaltender Jamie Hodson.

Overall, Canada has captured nine Spengler Cup Championships in the event's 76-year existence, including a four year run from 1995-98. Last year, in the 2002 final, Canada defeated HC Davos to post a perfect 5-0 record in the tournament.

In 29 games this season with St. John's of the American Hockey League, Bell has recorded three goals and five assists to go along with 29 minutes in penalties. Hodson has appeared in 10 games for St. John's and has a record of 3-5-0 with a 4.46 goals against average. With Greensboro of the East Coast Hockey League he posted a record of 1-1-0 in two games with a 2.52 goals against average.
