(January 11, 2004) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Sunday that they have re-assigned goaltender Mikael Tellqvist to the St. John's Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League.
Tellqvist, 24, has appeared in five games for Toronto this season and has a record of 2-0-2 with a 2.51 goals against average. In addition, he has appeared in 11 games for St. John's this year and has a record of 6-5-0 with a 2.46 goals against average.
Tellqvist has played eight career NHL games for Toronto compiling a record of 3-1-2 with a 2.57 goals against average. The native of Sundbyberg, Sweden was Toronto's third choice, 70th overall in the 2000 Entry Draft.
