Team White Wins Bell/TML Skills Competition
In the six skill-challenging events, Trevor Kidd's White team led from start to finish. Nathan Perrott of the Blue Team won back to back events winning the Fastest Skater and Hardest Shot. The following is a summary of the 2004 Bell Leaf Skills Competition results.
KELLOGG'S PUCK CONTROL RELAY -- (Won by the White Team)
The White Team consisting of Clarke Wilm, Aki Berg and Matt Stajan defeated the Blue Team of Mikael Renberg, Pierre Hedin and Craig Johnson. In the one-on-one challenge, Carlo Colaiacovo (White) defeated Tomas Kaberle (Blue).
BELL FASTEST SKATER -- (Won by the White Team)
Nathan Perrott of the Blue Team completed the fastest lap of the ice in just 13.998 seconds to win the individual competition. The White Team took the overall event as Carlo Colaiacovo (15.180), Matt Stajan (14.477) and Bryan McCabe (14.177) registered the fastest average of 14.614 seconds.
PIZZA PIZZA HARDEST SHOT -- (Won by the Blue Team)
Nathan Perrott of the Blue Team recorded the hardest shot with a drive of 100.3 m.p.h. to win the individual competition. Perrott and his teammates Karel Pilar (95.5), Bryan Marchment and Alexei Ponikarovsky (98.4) won the overall event with an average shot of 96.9 m.p.h. (Other leaders: Ric Jackman (98.3), McCabe (97.3), Owen Nolan (96.2).)
TIM HORTONS SHOOTING ACCURACY -- (Won by the Blue Team)
The Blue Team of Mikael Renberg, Gary Roberts and Mats Sundin defeated the White Team of Tie Domi, Alexander Mogilny and Joe Nieuwendyk. The Blue team hit a total of 10 targets in 20 shots. Mogilny took home individual honours for the second straight year hitting four targets in five shots. 1. Alex Mogilny 4/5. 2. Mikael Renberg 4/6. 3. Mats Sundin 4/6. 4. Tie Domi 4/8. 5. PARMALAT POWER PLAY CHALLENGE -- (Won by the Blue Team)
The Blue Team won the event led by the trio of Mats Sundin, Alexei Ponikarovsky and Craig Johnson who scored three goals. The father/son combination of Ed and Dayne Belfour allowed just three goals.
ESSO BREAKAWAY RELAY -- (Won by the White Team)
The White Team outscored the Blue Team eight goals to four in the breakaway relay.
