Brian Leetch made an immediate impact as he registered three powerplay assists in his Maple Leafs debut as Toronto defeated the New York Islanders at Air Canada Centre. His defence partner Bryan McCabe collected three points (two goals, one assist), while Gary Roberts, Mats Sundin and Robert Reichel each collected a goal and an assist. The last Toronto player to register three points in his Maple Leafs debut was John Cullen who collected two goals and one assist November 26, 1992 versus Quebec (5-4 loss). The last Toronto player to register three assists in his Maple Leafs debut was Miroslav Frycer who accomplished the feat March 10, 1982 versus Chicago (7-6 loss).
