Czerkawski Here For A Year
The 33-year-old native of Radomsko, Poland, had 25 goals and 24 assists in 81 games with the New York Islanders in 2003-04. He was limited to five goals and nine assists in 45 games the previous season with the Montreal Canadiens.
Czerkawski's best season came with the Isles in 1999-00 when he set career highs in goals (35), assists (35) and points (70). He had 15 goals and nine assists in 46 games for Djurgarden in Sweden last season.
He has 207 goals and 218 assists in 710 career NHL games with Boston, Edmonton, Montreal and the Islanders.
In other Toronto news Friday, the club announced its new medical staff. Kevin Wagner, former head trainer for the Ottawa Senators from 1997 through 2002, has been named head athletic therapist.
Chris Davie, a therapist in the Edmonton Oilers organization the past six years, will serve as assistant athletic therapist. Dr. Noah Forman has been named medical director for the Leafs and AHL Toronto Marlies and head team physician of the Leafs. Dr. Erin Boynton will serve as orthopaedic consultant to both clubs.
