TORONTO (CP) -- Forward Jeremy Williams, defenceman Brendan Bell and goaltender Todd Ford were among players assigned to the AHL's Toronto Marlies by the parent Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday.

Also assigned to the Marlies were forwards John Mitchell, Chris St. Jacques, Roman Kukumberg and Mike Hoffman and defencemen Tyson Marsh and Dominic D'Amour.

The following players on amateur tryout agreements were released to the Marlies: forwards Dominic Noel, Luke Fulghum, Shaun Landolt, Colin Murphy, Tyler Beechey, Martin Sagat, Kris Newbury and Jan Steber, and defencemen Steven Later and Brett Engelhardt.

Williams, 21, a five-foot-11 centre from Regina, had 16 goals and 20 assists in the AHL in his rookie pro campaign last winter. In 2003-2004, he scored 52 goals for the WHL's Swift Current Broncos. He was Toronto's fifth pick, 220th overall, in the 2003 entry draft.

Bell, 22, a six-foot-one defenceman from Ottawa, had six goals and 25 assists in his rookie pro season in the AHL last season. He was Toronto's third pick, 65th overall, in the 2001 entry draft.

Ford, 21, a six-foot-four goalie from Calgary, played for the Pensacola, Fla., team in the ECHL last winter _ his rookie pro season. He was Toronto's third pick, 74th overall, in 2002 after playing junior in the WHL in Swift Current, Prince George, B.C., and Vancouver.

Noel, 24, of Lameque, N.B., was the player selected by the Leafs in the Making The Cut television special last December. The six-foot-one forward played at Dalhousie University last winter after playing junior for the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles
