BOSTON (AP) -- Alexei Zhamnov got the tiebreaking goal, his first score of the season, and Hannu Toivonen stopped 26 shots to lead the Boston Bruins to a 4-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night.

Travis Green, Keith Primeau and Brad Stuart also scored, and former Leaf Brian Leetch had three assists as Boston won for the second time in its last seven games at home.

The Bruins improved to 3-1-1 against the Maple Leafs this season, getting the first win for the home team in the five meetings.

Toronto, the league's third-highest scoring team in power-play opportunities, was 0-for-9 with the man advantage. Toivonen stopped two-man advantages in each of the first two periods.

Mikael Tellqvist had 21 saves for the Maple Leafs.

Green's fourth goal of the season gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead with 1:43 left in the first period.

Toronto tied the game at one at 12:50 of the second period as Mariusz Czerkawsi got his third goal of the year on a shot from just above the left faceoff circle.

Zhamnov regained Toronto's lead on backhander off a rebound at 15:52.

Primeau scored his first goal and his first point with the Bruins at 6:23 of the third period to give Boston a 3-1 lead. Stuart capped the scoring with a power-play goal with 32 seconds left in the game.

The teams conclude their home-and-home series Friday night at Toronto.
