Brent Aubin Wins Weekly Honours
(October 18, 2006) -- Toronto Maple Leafs prospect and Quebec Remparts forward Brent Aubin was selected as the Canadian Hockey League's player of the week after recording nine goals and five assists in four games for the period ending October 15. On Monday, he was named the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Telus offensive player of the week.
Aubin, who is the Remparts captain, recorded points on 14 of his team's 23 goals (60.9%), while maintaining a +5 plus/minus rating. His best showing came in a 6-2 win over Chicoutimi as he collected six points. Later in the week he registered five points in a Remparts 8-7 shootout win over Shawinigan. Aubin has scored at least one goal in each of his last nine games and is currently eighth in the QMJHL scoring race.
Aubin was signed as a free agent by the Toronto Maple Leafs on September 15, 2006. He attended the Toronto Maple Leafs Rookie Tournament in September. Aubin played in four games and led the tournament with nine assists and tied the Maple Leafs John Mitchell with 11 points.
