Peca Injury Update, Newbury Recalled

(TORONTO) -- John Ferguson, vice-president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Saturday that forward Michael Peca sustained a fractured tibial plateau (top of the shin bone where it meets the knee) in the Maple Leafs' game in Chicago Friday night. Peca will require surgery and he is expected to be out of the lineup for the next three to four months.
Peca has played in 35 games for the Maple Leafs this season, collecting 15 points (four goals, 11 assists), along with 60 penalty minutes.
The Maple Leafs also announced Saturday that the hockey club has recalled forward Kris Newbury from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. Newbury is currently second in Marlies' scoring with 30 points (10 goals, 20 assists) in 32 games played. Newbury also leads the Marlies in penalty minutes with 81.
