Leafs Re-Acquire Travis Green
TORONTO (CP) - John Ferguson, vice-president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Wednesday afternoon that centreman Travis Green was claimed off waivers from the Anaheim Ducks. Forward Erik Westrum was returned to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. Green will join the Maple Leafs in Buffalo this evening and he will wear sweater number 39.
Green, 36, has appeared in seven games with the Ducks in 2006-07 and had a goal and an assist with a plus 3 mark.
The native of Castlegar, British Columbia played for the Maple Leafs in 2001-02 and 2002-03. In 157 regular season games with the Maple Leafs he collected 23 goals and 35 assists for 58 points to go along with 128 penalty minutes. He notched 12 points (5g, 7a) in 24 playoff games with Toronto.
In 946 career NHL games with the Islanders, Ducks, Coyotes, Maple Leafs and Bruins he has 193 goals and 262 assists for 455 points. He was originally drafted by the Islanders in the second round, 23rd overall, in the 1989 Entry Draft.
