Leafs Make Roster Moves
January 16, 2006

(TORONTO) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Tuesday that forwards Ben Ondrus and Kris Newbury have been assigned to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. Forwards Nik Antropov and Alexei Ponikarovsky have been activated from Injured Reserve and are expected to play this evening when the Maple Leafs play the Tampa Bay Lightning on the road.

Newbury, 26, was recalled from the Marlies on December 23 and he played in his first NHL game that day against the Washington Capitals. In 10 games since his recall, he scored two goals and added two assists while posting a plus four mark. He was one of two Marlies selected on January 9 to play in the 2007 AHL All-Star Game which will be held January 29 at Toronto's Ricoh Coliseum.

Ondrus, 24, has two assists and 20 penalty minutes in 15 games with the Maple Leafs in 2006-07. He joined the Leafs from the Marlies on December 21.

Ponikarovsky has missed the past 11 games with a shoulder injury and Antropov has missed past 17 games with an ankle injury.
