Kubina Out, Recall Williams
February 23, 2007

(TORONTO) -- Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Pavel Kubina sustained a finger injury during the second period of Thursday night's game on the road against the New York Islanders.

Upon further assessment in Toronto on Friday, it was determined that Kubina has a fractured finger. He is expected to be out of the lineup for two weeks.

The Toronto Maple Leafs then announced that forward Jeremy Williams has been recalled from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.  Williams will join the Maple Leafs for their game in Philadelphia on Saturday.

Williams, 23, has played in 17 games for the Marlies this season, collecting 12 points (five goals, eight assists), 23 penalty minutes, and a plus two mark.

Williams scored a goal for the Maple Leafs in his only NHL game on April 18, 2006 against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Air Canada Centre.

The Maple Leafs' current road trip continues with games at Philadelphia Saturday evening and in Montreal on Monday.
