Leafs Announce '08-09 Broadcast Schedule
Every Leafs’ game will also be carried live on AM 640 Toronto Radio, The Home of the Leafs, from the start of the preseason and continuing through to the conclusion of the season.
"Once again we are excited that Leafs Nation will have the opportunity to watch every Leafs game on television,” said Tom Anselmi, executive vice-president, chief operating officer, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. “All of our broadcast partners, Rogers Sportsnet, TSN, CBC and Leafs TV are committed to providing another year of exciting hockey for Leafs fans and all in High Definition. Leafs TV will also deliver in depth pre and post game shows for every game, allowing fans to easily follow the Blue and White.”
There will be 13 regular season games in 2008-09 carried exclusively on
Leafs TV. The Leafs will also appear 28 times on Rogers Sportsnet, 24 times on CBC, and 17 times nationally on TSN.
“Rogers Sportsnet can now offer Leaf fans more of the games they want to see,” said Doug Beeforth, president, Rogers Sportsnet. “As the Official Broadcaster of the Leafs, we’re proud to be a leader in bringing viewers closer to the Blue and White with more Leaf games than any other channel.”
"As part of our new six-year NHL deal, TSN will deliver our strongest Maple Leafs broadcast package yet featuring more nationally televised games than ever before with 17 Toronto Maple Leafs games," said Phil King, president, TSN. "Providing Canadian hockey fans with increased coverage of their favourite teams is always a priority for TSN. TSN's 70-game NHL broadcast package for the 2008-09 season will feature at least one Canadian team in every game. We look forward to another exciting season."
The Leafs’ preseason schedule begins with the Coke Zero Fans First Game against the Buffalo Sabres on September 22. Rogers Sportsnet and AM 640 Toronto will broadcast that game exclusively. Regular season action starts October 9 at Detroit, on Hockey Night in Canada.
