Leafs Raise Awareness For Charity Partners
The Toronto Maple Leafs will spotlight five key charity partners at several of their home games this season. The hockey club hopes to spread awareness about issues affecting youth and Canadians by dedicating the following nights to specific causes:
  •  Monday, November 17 - Leafs will spotlight the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) at their game against the Boston Bruins
  • Saturday, March 7, 2009 - Hockey Canada Night at the Leafs vs. Devils game
  • Thursday, March 12, 2009 - Leafs will spotlight Athletes Against Autism at their game against the Tampa Bay Lightning
JDRF and Athletes Against Autism aim to raise funds for research, education and treatment programs for their respective causes while Hockey Canada’s mission is to lead, develop and promote positive hockey experiences.

“The Leafs community nights are meant to inspire our fans to give back to our community,” said Nancy Gilks, manager for the Leafs Fund for Kids. “The Leafs hope to make their fans aware of some of the issues facing young and old Canadians.”

The designated game nights will incorporate awareness messages and donations will be collected on JDRF Night and Athletes Against Autism Night.

In October, the Leafs, their wives and girlfriends (Lady Leafs) hosted Pink Ribbon Night. Together they raised more than $30,000 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

The Leafs Fund for Kids is committed to improving the lives of children and youth in the Greater Toronto Area by providing access to sports and recreation opportunities that encourage health and wellness in our community. Leafs Community Relations are dedicated to being leaders in the community through effective educational and health awareness programs. Helping shape the future of hockey in Canada, Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Development offers opportunities and skill development programs to youth throughout Ontario and Canada.
