Kadri Named CHL Player Of The Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Nazem Kadri of the London Knights is the CHL Player of the Week for the second week of the 2010 playoffs ending March 28. Kadri scored two goals and seven assists for nine points in three games with a plus-minus rating of plus-3.
Kadri led the Knights to a five-game opening series win over the Guelph Storm. He was named first star of the game in the first three contests including last Tuesday night in Game three where he recorded three assists despite a 5-4 loss. He followed that up with a goal and an assist on Thursday night in Game four where he was named third star of an 8-2 win in Guelph. Kadri finished the week with his best performance scoring the game-winning goal and adding three assists as second star in the 6-2 Game five win on Friday night.
Kadri, a 19-year-old from London, ON, was selected seventh overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and was a member of Canada’s National Junior Team. He currently leads the OHL in playoff scoring with 14 points in five games.
Also considered for this award was Jordan Caron who scored three goals and five assists for eight points in four games for the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies who have advanced to the second round of the QMJHL playoffs following a 4-2 opening series win over the Val d’Or Foreurs. Defenceman Tyson Barrie was also considered for scoring two goals and seven assists in four games for the Kelowna Rockets who forced game seven in their opening round series after being down 2-0 to the Everett Silvertips. The Rockets won game seven 2-1 on Monday night to advance to the second round.
