Brian Burke, president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday that Dave Nonis and the hockey club have agreed to terms on a restructured contract. In his current role as the Maple Leafs’ senior vice-president of hockey operations and general manager of the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, Nonis’ contract will run through the 2011-12 season.

Nonis, 43, joined the Maple Leafs’ management team on December 6, 2008. Prior to joining the Maple Leafs, he was the Anaheim Ducks’ senior advisor of hockey operations. The native of Burnaby, British Columbia was senior vice-president and general manager of the Vancouver Canucks for four years (2004 to 2008). He joined the Canucks in 1998 as senior vice-president, director of hockey operations after serving four seasons as the National Hockey League’s manager of hockey operations.

With the NHL, Nonis helped craft the 1994 Collective Bargaining Agreement and worked with the league’s arbitration team, assisting clubs in preparing for arbitration, researching salaries and interpreting contract language.
