Leafs Announce 2010-11 Regular Season Schedule

The Toronto Maple Leafs will open the 2010-11 season by facing Original Six rival, the Montreal Canadiens, for the second consecutive season at Air Canada Centre on Thursday, October 7.

Saturday night games once again dominate the Maple Leafs’ schedule with Toronto playing 23 times on Saturday (14 at home and nine on the road). The Maple Leafs do not have any home games scheduled for Friday and Sunday in the upcoming season.

The busiest month will be March as the team will play 15 games overall (7 home, 8 away). The team will play seven home games in November, December, February and March while the busiest road months will be January and March with eight road games. The Maple Leafs will also host the Canadiens in the season finale on April 9. The defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks will visit Air Canada Centre on March 5 in their lone meeting against the Maple Leafs. The Buffalo Sabres will oppose the Maple Leafs at Toronto on Saturday, November 6 in the annual Hall of Fame Game and Montreal will host the blue and white February 12 at the Bell Centre as part of CBC’s 11th annual Hockey Day In Canada.

The  NHL schedule matrix for 2010-11 will see the Maple Leafs play six games against divisional opponents (24 games in total), four games against each non-divisional conference team (40 games in total), and one game against each of the teams in the Pacific and Central Divisions of the Western Conference. The Maple Leafs will also face Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver once at home and once on the road. Toronto will face all 29 other NHL clubs on the schedule. The first 15 games to open the schedule are all against Eastern Conference opponents. The 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs will begin on Wednesday, April 13. The last possible date for Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final is scheduled for Friday, June 17, 2011.

The team’s 2010 preseason schedule and full broadcast schedule will be released at a later date.
