The Maple Leafs had jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the second period but the Sabres scored two goals 30 seconds apart to level the score.

After a timeout by Ron Wilson Leafs that seemed to settle them down, the Leafs used a great passing play to score the winner. Clarke MacArthur made a gorgeous pass to Phil Kessel at centre who fed Mikhail Grabovski who redirected it past Ryan Miller. It was Grabovski's 29th of the season and the final goal in the huge win.

Clarke MacArthur had been slumping of late going seven games without a goal and having just three assists in that span. Against his former team he broke out in a big way.

MacArthur set up two goals on the night and in the second he also converted the Nazem Kadri pass for his 21st goal of the season. With the three points, he once again leads the team in scoring with 59 points. He was a plus three with four shots in 19:35 of action.

The duo of Mike Brown and Tim Brent were phenomenal late in the game when the Leafs were trying to protect the lead. Brown used his great speed on the forecheck to hem the Sabres in their own zone and Brent once again sacrificed his body by getting down to block shots.

Although they didn't see much ice time, Brown with almost eight minutes and Brent just over 10, their hard work and determination were big factors for the Leafs as they were on the ice in the closing seconds.

10. The number of goals that the Leafs have scored against the Sabres in the last three meetings, all victories by the Maple Leafs. The Leafs finished the season series against Buffalo 3-2-1 winning three straight games against their QEW rival, two in a row by identical 4-3 scores.

The win was the second straight at home for Toronto against Buffalo and marks the first time the Leafs have accomplished that feat since March 24, 2007 and January 19, 2008.

Ron Wilson on the Leafs' winning streak against Buffalo:

"Well, we've beat them the last three but I know what I'll read tomorrow is our overall record for the last 30 years against Buffalo is such and such. The key is we won the games when we needed them and that's a good sign for all the guys who will be back next year. They believe they can beat Ryan Miller and we've scored on him ... it was a great effort from everybody. We did exactly what we needed to do to beat them."
