Jagger Dirk’s dad, longtime NHL defenceman Robert Dirk, blessed and cursed his hockey playing son.
Dirk played 402 NHL games with eight teams and distinguished himself as a reliable NHL defender. “My father was perfect for me growing up,” said Jagger. “He pushed me when I needed it, but never too much. We talked a lot about what it takes to play in the NHL and I consider those conversations a real advantage.”
Which brings us to the curse. “My dad really liked Mick Jagger,” he said. “So much that he named me after him.”
When he was old enough, Jagger Dirk went on YouTube. He was a little horrified.
“I hope I’m named for how he moves,” not how he looks,” Dirk said.
The question of course, is did his parents call his sister Tina?
“No,” Dirk said. “My mom loves the mountains. She called her Aspen.”.
