The reckoning for Keevin Cutting came at the end of the 2009-2010 season. A fluid, smooth-skating defenceman, Cutting had played well in his rookie season with the Attack but his sophomore season was a major disappointment. Cutting finished -21, and carded just eight points.
“Last summer I decided I had to either do this right or not do it at all,” he said. “I really dedicated myself in the off-season to training well and to focus on doing my best. I think that work went a long way in determining the season I had this year.”
Cutting went from minus 21 to plus 23 over one season. Better yet, his steady, controlled game, bolstered by the conditioning work he did, was back.
While he goes into the draft this month, Cutting has one more year to continue to polish his game with the Attack.
The great thing is I have a second chance. My season this year was a lot better and I have the chance to play here next year and hopefully get even better.”
