Hall of Famer Mats Sundin will be an adviser to Sweden's national team, it was announced Wednesday.

"We're happy to get Mats Sundin involved in our work in this capacity. It'll be exciting to follow the cooperation this season, a season that will reach its climax with the World Championships on home ice in Stockholm," Tommy Boustedt, the Swedish federation’s director of national teams and development, said in a press release.

Sundin, 41, a former captain of the Maple Leafs, is the leading Swedish-born scorer in NHL history; he had 1,349 points in 1,346 regular-season games. His 564 goals also are most by any Swede.

He won three World Championship gold medals and one Olympic gold with Team Sweden. He will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Nov. 12.
