Leafs Announce 2013-14 Regular Season Schedule

The Toronto Maple Leafs will visit Eastern Conference division rival Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre on Tuesday, October 1 at 7 pm to open their 2013-14 regular season. This will be the fifth consecutive season that Montreal will be the Leafs’ opponent on Opening Night. The Ottawa Senators will provide the opposition for the Leafs in their home opener at Air Canada Centre on Saturday, October 5 at 7 pm. Highlighting the upcoming season’s schedule will be the 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® as the Leafs challenge the Detroit Red Wings on January 1, 2014 at Michigan Stadium (Ann Arbor, MI) at 1 pm. The team will also play eight preseason games from September 15 to 28.
A new realignment and division-based format for the Stanley Cup Playoffs will take effect in the 2013-14 NHL season. All 30 teams will play in all 30 arenas at least once a season. Two eight-team divisions in the Eastern Conference and two seven-team divisions in the Western Conference have been created. The Leafs will compete in the Atlantic Division which will include: Boston, Buffalo, Detroit, Florida, Montreal, Ottawa and Tampa Bay.
Saturday night games once again dominate the Leafs schedule with Toronto playing 23 times on Saturday (15 at home and eight on the road).
The busiest month for the club is January and March as the team will play 15 games overall in each month. The busiest home month for Toronto comes in December with 10 games while the busiest road month will be in March with nine games. The Leafs will close out the regular season schedule with a three-game road trip against divisional rivals Tampa Bay, Florida and Ottawa (April 12).
Radio and television broadcast information, along with single game ticket availability for the 2013-14 season, will be available at a later date.
Other Schedule Notes:
• The longest road streak occurs from March 10 to March 18 (five games).
• The longest home stand is five games (November 16 to November 25).
• The Leafs will play on consecutive nights on 16 occasions.
• The Leafs will have at least one home game on each day of the week in 2013-14 for the first time in many seasons. The most recent regular season home game on a Sunday came on February 23, 2003 (vs. Nashville) and the most recent Friday regular season home game came on December 23, 2005 (vs. Boston).
