Leafs Announce 2013-14 TV and Radio Listings

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that all 2013-14 regular season and preseason games will once again be carried live among four Canadian television networks and two radio stations. On television, Leafs TV, Sportsnet Ontario, TSN, and CBC will carry the Leafs' action. CBC's Hockey Night in Canada begins its 61st season of Leafs' broadcasts in 2013-14.

"As the home of hockey, the Toronto Maple Leafs are an important part of TSN's national NHL broadcast package," said Stewart Johnston, President of TSN. "On top of broadcasting 17 Leafs games on TSN, TSN Radio 1050 Toronto brings fans live coverage of 41 Leafs games, plus expert analysis and dedicated Leafs programming all season long."

"With the team looking to build on the momentum of last year, Sportsnet is excited to continue its strong partnership with the Maple Leafs and connect fans to their home team first all season long," said Scott Moore, President of Broadcasting, Rogers Media. "Wherever they want, whenever they want, Sportsnet will give Leafs fans access to the biggest and best coverage across multiple platforms and on any device."

Every Leafs' game will also be live on the radio as Sportsnet 590 The FAN and TSN Radio 1050 Toronto will divide the games. The Leafs season opener at Montreal on October 1 will be televised by CBC and listeners can catch the game on TSN Radio 1050 Toronto. The full radio and television broadcast listings are included on the preseason and regular season schedules on this release.

There will be 17 regular season games carried exclusively on Leafs TV. The remaining regular season coverage breakdown is as follows: 23 games on Sportsnet Ontario, 17 games on TSN, 25 games on CBC. All four networks will also carry at least one preseason game.

Viewers can watch the 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® on New Year's Day on CBC in Canada and viewers south of the border can see the outdoor game on NBC. Sportsnet 590 The Fan will carry the January 1 showcase hockey game live from Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Play-by-play man, Jon Abbott, 28, will now perform the duties on mid-week radio broadcasts with the recent departure of Dan Dunleavy. Abbott will call the action on the games that longtime voice of the Leafs, Joe Bowen, is seen and heard on mid-week TV games.

The native of Aylmer, Ontario began his career as a production assistant at Leafs TV before moving on to a seven-year run of play-by-play in the Ontario Hockey League, primarily with the Ottawa 67's. He spent the past two seasons behind the microphone of the Toronto Marlies after rejoining the MLSE fold in September of 2011. Abbott will also have pregame and postgame hosting duties for home games on Leafs TV and he will also report from the road for the network.
