Leafs Sign Ryan Rupert To Entry Level Deal
David Nonis, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Thursday the hockey club has signed forward Ryan Rupert to a three-year entry level contract.
Rupert, 19, played 68 regular season games in 2013-14 for the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights during which he collected 73 points (21 goals, 52 assists), 54 penalty minutes and a +36 plus/minus rating. He ranked second on London in assists and fifth in points and plus/minus. In 10 playoff games thus far with the Knights, the 5-9, 190-pound centre has earned three goals, seven assists and 10 penalty minutes. Over his four-season OHL career with London he has played 224 games and registered 194 points (58 goals, 136 assists) with 279 penalty minutes. He was a member of the Knights back-to-back OHL championship teams in 2011-12 and 2012-13.
Rupert, a native of Grand Bend, Ontario, was selected by Maple Leafs in the sixth round, 157th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
