Marlies Sweep Wolves, Advance To West Final
The Toronto Marlies defeated the Chicago Wolves, AHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, by a score of 4-0 tonight in front of over 7,000 fans at Ricoh Coliseum. With the win, the Marlies earn a four-game sweep of the Wolves and remain the only unbeaten team in the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Greg McKegg would score the game’s first goal at 7:51 in the opening period. Forward Carter Ashton would register his second tally of the playoffs early in the middle frame to give Toronto a 2-0 advantage. Peter Holland extended the lead on a breakaway at 7:09 of the third period before Korbinian Holzer notched an empty net tally to secure Toronto’s seventh straight victory. Drew MacIntyre stopped all 30 shots he faced to earn his second shutout of the post-season.
