Collected 1st NHL point (assist) Oct. 24 at Philadelphia. Assigned to the Marlies Nov. 1. Recalled from the Marlies Nov. 8. Scored 1st NHL goal Nov. 19 vs. Washington (Tomas Vokoun). Made NHL debut with Maple Leafs and recorded 5 shots Apr. 9 vs. Montreal. Named a top three finalist for the 2011 Hobey Baker Award, which is an annual award given to the top National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) men's hockey player. Led all NCAA with 36 goals. Ranked 1st on North Dakota in points, game-winning goals (6), powerplay goals (10), shorthanded goals (3) and empty net goals (2). Named to NCAA West First All- American Team. Named the WCHA Player of the Year and a WCHA First Team All-Star. Led North Dakota to the WCHA regular season and playoff titles, and a berth into the NCAA Frozen Four championship. 2009-10: Played 24 games for University of North Dakota collecting 19 points (11 goals, 8 assists) with 21 penalty minutes. Ranked 5th (tie) on the team in goals despite only playing in 24 games. Finished the season on a 6-game point streak. 2008-09: Played 42 games for University of North Dakota collecting 25 points (13 goals, 12 assists) with 48 penalty minutes. Tied for 4th on team in both goals and power play goals (5). Tallied 5 multipoint games. Named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week Nov. 28 registering first career hat-trick and 4 point game against Cornell. Named to All- WCHA Academic Team. 2007-08: Played 43 games for University of North Dakota collecting 15 points (4 goals, 11 assists) with 18 penalty minutes. Only Sioux freshman to play in all 43 games during the season. Led all North Dakota rookies in points and assists. Ranked 10th amongst WCHA freshman in scoring. Ranked 6th on team and led all freshman with (+11) rating. Scored a goal and an assist in collegiate debut in season opener against Michigan State Oct. 13.
