The Toronto Maple Leafs don't need a team meeting this time.

After their 16-game point streak came to end Saturday, the Maple Leafs will try to get right back into the win column as they continue a four-game trip against the Florida Panthers.

The Maple Leafs failed to gain a point for the first time in 17 games Saturday, as they lost 3-1 to the New York Islanders.

Toronto, 14-0-1-1 since its last regulation loss Nov. 20 in Edmonton, tied the longest streak of consecutive points in the NHL since the 1999-00 season, when points were first awarded for overtime losses.

"We can't be satisfied with a great run like that and just be average the rest of the way," right wing Owen Nolan said. "We've learned a lot about ourselves. But the past few games we've been sloppy, just trying to win on talent alone, and it caught up to us."

Following that 3-2 loss in Edmonton, the Leafs held a team meeting that many players credited with helping to start an eight-game win streak.

Already missing high-scoring forward Alexander Mogilny, the Leafs played Saturday without forwards Mikael Renberg and Robert Reichel and defenseman Tomas Kaberle.

Renberg is expected to miss two more games due to personal reasons and Reichel could be sidelined two weeks with a dislocated shoulder sustained in Friday's 6-5 overtime win against the New York Rangers. Kaberle has missed five games with a shoulder injury.

Leafs captain Mats Sundin had his six-game point streak snapped Saturday. He has eight goals and nine assists in the last 13 games.

Captain Olli Jokinen scored a power-play goal 5:15 into the third period Saturday, leading Florida to a 3-2 victory over visiting Anaheim.

Matt Cullen and Marcus Nilson scored second-period goals for the Panthers, unbeaten in five straight at home (3-0-2).

Florida was an NHL-worst 8-21-7-5 at home last season.

"Last year, all the teams wanted to play us here because we couldn't win," Jokinen said. "But now, we're on a roll here."

Jokinen's goal helped improve the Panthers to 10-3-3-1 this season when he records at least one point. Florida is 2-13-4-1 when Jokinen is held without a point.
