Leafs go for 4th win in a row as they visit Isles
Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New York Islanders

MAPLE LEAFS (23-33-12) at ISLANDERS (27-32-9)

Last 10 -- Toronto 5-4-1; New York 4-5-1.

Season Series -- This is the fourth and final meeting between the teams. The Islanders have won two of the first three, including a 3-1 decision at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Dec. 23, 2009.

Big story -- With the playoffs an extreme long shot, both teams are simply trying to finish the season strong. The Leafs have won three in a row, including a 6-4 home win over Edmonton on Saturday, while the Isles picked up a point in a shootout loss on Thursday against St. Louis before earning a 4-2 victory against New Jersey on Saturday night.

Team Scope:

Maple Leafs -- Toronto made it three straight on Saturday, as Tyler Bozak, Nikolai Kulemin and Phil Kessel combined for eight points in the 6-4 win over the Oilers at the Air Canada Centre. The victory gave the Leafs -- who sit in the Eastern Conference basement -- 58 points. Edmonton has the fewest in the League with 49.

"It was the first time in a long time we played a team below us in the standings," Toronto coach Ron Wilson said. "It was a test for our young guys."

Islanders - Hours after learning their captain, Doug Weight, was done for the season due to a shoulder injury, the Isles played some inspired hockey and beat New Jersey at the Coliseum. Mark Streit and Jon Sim scored less than a minute apart during the second period, and Sean Bergenheim sealed the deal in the third with a shorthanded goal.

"Our guys did a tremendous job killing penalties," said Isles coach Scott Gordon, whose club is among the worst in the league on the penalty kill. "To be able to get that goal, obviously it was a huge goal for us. It put a little space between us."

Who's hot -- Kessel has six points in his last three games for the Leafs, including a pair of goals on Saturday. … Isles defenseman Mark Streit has 2 goals and 4 assists since the Olympic break. Blake Comeau has nine points in his last seven games.

Injury report - Leafs forward Fredrik Sjostrom (shoulder) is out for two weeks, while defensemen Mike Komisarek (shoulder) and Mike Van Ryn (knee) are done for the season. … Weight (shoulder), forward Rob Schremp (knee) and defenseman Radek Martinek (torn ACL) are out for the season. Trent Hunter (upper body) is expected to return soon, while Rick DiPietro (knee) is out indefinitely. Defenseman Andrew MacDonald (foot) is out 4-6 weeks and may not be back in the NHL this season.

Stat pack -- Toronto's 4-3 overtime win against TampaBay on Thursday marked the first time in more than a year the Leafs had won consecutive games in overtime. It was also just their fourth win in 16 overtime games this season.

Puck drop -- "It felt pretty good, especially at that time of the game. They had their power play going and that kind of gave us some extra breathing room. It felt good personally, too. It's been a little unproductive here this season, but I've just got to keep on going." -- Isles forward Sean Bergenheim, who scored for the first time in 18 games on Saturday
