TORONTO (AP) _ The Columbus Blue Jackets just didn't have the energy to rally against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Gary Roberts and Darcy Tucker scored power-play goals, and the Maple Leafs beat the Blue Jackets 4-1 on Thursday night.

Columbus beat the Los Angeles Kings in overtime the previous night.

``It was just a case of us playing last night,'' Columbus coach Gerard Gallant said. ``We looked tired. We worked hard and competed, but our top scorers just didn't get the scoring chances they usually get.''

Ed Belfour made 18 saves in his first start in almost two weeks. Belfour, who missed three games with a back injury, was rarely tested, but he did stop Todd Marchant on a partial breakaway after Marchant skated between two defensemen in the first period.

``They played the night before. Maybe being tired was the case today,'' Belfour said.

Marchant scored the lone goal for the Blue Jackets, who have the worst road record in the NHL (3-17-4-2). Columbus' Rick Nash, the NHL's leading goal scorer, admitted his team was tired.

``Some guys were tired, but we're not looking for excuses,'' Nash said. ``They were the better team tonight and that was obvious.''

Columbus managed just four shots in the third.

Tie Domi and Mikael Renberg also scored for the Maple Leafs, who have won seven of their last 10 games.

Domi, standing alone at the side of the net, redirected Robert Reichel's pass past goaltender Marc Denis at 10:02 of the first.

After Columbus' Anders Eriksson drove a slap shot off Belfour's pads, Marchant put the rebound in at 16:30 of the first.

Roberts staked in on a power play and lifted the puck over Denis' shoulder, giving Toronto a 2-1 lead at 11:44 of the second.

Columbus forward David Vyborny received a four-minute penalty for high-sticking Toronto captain Mats Sundin in the face with 10 minutes left in the third.

Just more than two minutes later, Tucker tipped in Tomas Kaberle's shot from the point.

Renberg added an empty-net goal with 23 seconds left.
